Serve defines Volunteer service as, "Anything you do for someone else, outside of your immediate family, without pay." You decide how you want to serve in your community.

If you are already volunteering, then you’re already doing your part, and there’s no need to do extra for Serve. Some examples of volunteer service include:

§

§
Giving an elderly or handicapped neighbor a ride to the doctor’s office.

§         Watching a neighbor’s kids while she works.

§         Driving the soccer team to its away games.

§         Helping out at your local food pantry.

§         Coaching the varsity basketball team at your kid’s school.

§         Being a Girl Scout leader.

For help finding a volunteer opportunity near you contact your local Volunteer Action Center. A listing of centers can be found at www.volunteerconnections.org.  We also list quite a few charitable organizations on our links page.

Serve is an independent, private and non-profit program building on and supporting the interests of our participants in local communities. Working individually or in local teams, the participants in our food co-op provide around 100,000 volunteer hours every month to their communities.
