Serve New England is a program
designed to promote volunteer service by offering deep discounts on the
highest quality grocery, meat, and vegetable items to community-minded
individuals willing to volunteer 2 hours of their time each month to a
worthy cause. We have over 350 chapter sites located throughout the six
New England states.
Serve has no
eligibility requirements other than the 2 hours of volunteer service. Our
program is open to people of all ages, races, and income levels.
If you already help at your church, school, youth sports, senior center,
etc. then you already qualify. If you are helping someone other than a
family member with yard work, meals, babysitting, or transportation, etc.,
then you already qualify. Serve will also be happy to assist you in
finding a volunteer project that interests you as well as training if
necessary.
Serve New England's Food Cooperative
As a reward for this effort,
you can participate in Serve’s food co-op, which offers you top quality
food at a discount of up to 50%. For more information about our food,
please go to the Food co-op choice in the menu or
click this.
Serve New England's Scholarship and Campership Programs

Helping others and serving
your community are character-building traits that Serve wants to encourage
in our young people as well. Each Spring, we offer education scholarships
to high school graduates and camperships to summer camps for kids ages
8-16. The money for these programs is raised separately from our food
program. It is generally funded through donations from our participants,
vendors, and fundraising events. In 2003, we awarded over $5,000 in
scholarships to deserving applicants.
Serve New England's Newspaper
Our
newspaper is published monthly and is circulated throughout New England.
The newspaper lists the locations of each of our chapter sites with the
names and phone numbers of the chapter coordinators. It also includes the
food lists for the upcoming months along with the meat specials.
Our Serve New England Newspaper contains recipes that feature the food in our packages
to help our participants with nutritious meal preparations. There is
information on food handling and background bits on where our food was
purchased that month. The newspaper is also available through the main
menu of this website.
